Product Relationships allows you to relate two products together with a Relationship Type that describes how they are related. You can use the standard Relationship Types, or create your own. Relationships can be symmetrical, such as “Compatible With” or one-way, such as "Replacement".
Relationships can be between 2 products or from a product to a component. In the case of product to component you can further configure attributes on the relationship, both standard ones that appear on all the relationships of the type or one-off attributes that you add directly to a given relationship.
In this article, you'll learn how to manage Product Relationships.

You can create new Relationship Types, or use Knowde’s core library, to link two products together.

- Navigate to Relationship Types under Configuration in the left hand sidebar
- Click Create Relationship Type on the top right
- Enter a Relationship Type name in the text field
- Click the Record Pairing source dropdown and select Product
- Click the Record Pairing target dropdown and select Product
- If you want to this relationship be labeled the same on both records, click Yes
- Enter a label in the text field on how you want this relationship to be displayed on a record
- If you do not want this relationship be labeled the same on both record, click No
- For relationships which change meaning based on the direction, set different labels to provide context. Enter labels in the textfields on how you want this relationship to be displayed on a record.
- If you want to this relationship be labeled the same on both records, click Yes
- Click Create
For example, you want a relationship where it is labeled the same on both records, such as a “Compatible” relationship. You would add "is compatible with” as the label. This will read "Strawberry Flavor is compatible with Stevia Sweetener".
On the other hand, you want a relationship which changes meaning based on the direction, such as a "Replacement" relationship. You would add "replaces" as the first label and “is replaced by” as the other label. If read one way, "Strawberry Flavor replaces Old Strawberry Flavor". If read the other way, "Old Strawberry Flavor is replaced by Strawberry Flavor.
