Create a Channel Rule
Channel Rules automate your company’s Request and Lead workflows and streamline your review processes. Follow the below steps to create your first Channel Rule or connect with your Customer Success Manager for assistance.
To create a Channel Rule:
- Navigate to your Channel Rules grid under Settings in the left hand navigation bar
- Click Create Channel Rule in the top right corner of the Channel Rules page
- Enter a Rule Name
- Define rules by adding as many attributes as needed in the Channel Rules section
- Set the frequency of your notifications:
- You can be notified in real time, receive daily or weekly digests, or mute all notifications.
- You can send notifications to other representatives (CC) by entering their emails separated by a comma in the respective field.
- Click Create on the top right
Define your channel rules by adding attributes that are specific to the selected Event Type. There are 5 Event Types to select from: Inbound Lead, New Sample Request, New Document Request, New Request for Quote, New Order.
After picking the event type, here are example attributes you can add:
Buyer:
Company: The name of the buyer’s company
Company HQ Region: The region of the buyer’s company headquarters (e.g. Canada, Ohio)
Department: The specific department the buyer is part of (e.g. Procurement, Regulatory)
Market of Interest: The market the buyer is interested in (e.g. Plastics, Paints & Coatings)
Email: The email of the buyer
Verification Status: The buyer is verified or unverified by Knowde
Company Revenue: The revenue of the buyer’s company (e.g. 5M-10M, 500M-1B)
Existing Customer: The customer purchased directly or through the distributor before
Request:
Applicable Region: The region the document request is applicable for (e.g. North America, Mexico)
Document Type: The type of document requested (e.g. Technical Data Sheet, Brochure)
Language: The language of the document request (e.g. English, German)
Market: The market of the sample request, document request, or request for quote (e.g. Consumer Goods, Personal Care)
Application: The application of the sample request, document request, or request for quote (e.g. Apparel, Skin Care)
Sub-Application: The sub-application of the sample request, document request or request for quote (e.g. Aerospace Coatings, Medical Adhesives)
Shipping Location: The country or US state the sample request was sent to (e.g. Brazil, Florida)
Expected Annual Volume: The quantity the business requires annually, if the sample product suits their project's needs (e.g. 100kg, 30lb).
Product:
Product: The name of the product
Brand: The brand of the product
Division: The division of the company
Market: The market the product is associated with (e.g. Electrical & Electronics, Agriculture & Feed)
Technology: The technology the product is associated with (e.g. Food Ingredients, Elastomers)
Manage Channel Rules
Quickly view and manage your created rules from your Channel Rules page where you can view the Rule title, Conditions, Assignee, or take action on all of your rules. You can Filter, sort, and view your Team Rules and Distributor Rules all within the grid.
To pause a channel rule:
- Navigate to your Channel Rules grid under Settings in the left hand navigation bar
- Click the pause button on the right of the channel rule you want to pause
- Toggle Automatically unpause assignment on specified date in the confirmation popup
- Click Pause in the Pause Assignment confirmation popup
Tip: Set a scheduled date and time to unpause your rule by toggling on Automatically unpause assignment on
specified date
To unpause a channel rule:
- Navigate to your Channel Rules grid under Settings in the left hand navigation bar
- Click the unpause button on the right of the channel rule you want to unpause
- Click Unpause in the Unpause Assignment confirmation popup
To edit a channel rule:
- Navigate to your Channel Rules grid under Settings in the left hand navigation bar
- Click the edit icon on the right of the channel rule you want to edit
- Edit the channel rule by updating attributes in the slide out modal
- Click Save on the top right of the slide out modal
To delete a channel rule:
- Navigate to your Channel Rules grid under Settings in the left hand navigation bar
- Click the trash icon on the right of the channel rule you want to delete
- Click Delete in the Delete Assignment confirmation popup
To duplicate a channel rule:
- Navigate to your Channel Rules grid under Settings in the left hand navigation bar
- Click the + icon on the right of the channel rule you want to duplicate
- Click Duplicate in the Duplicate Assignment confirmation popup

Filter Your Channel Rules Grid
To filter your Channel Rules grid:
- Navigate to your Channel Rules grid under Settings in the left hand navigation bar
- Click the filter icon
in the top right of the grid
- Select an option from the dropdown to filter by such as Leads, Document Request, Sample Requests, RFQs, or Orders
- Click All from the drop-down to remove filter options
- Search your rules by using the Search rules bar on the left of the filter icon
Sort Your Channel Rules Grid
To sort your Channel Rules grid:
- Navigate to your Channel Rules grid under Settings in the left hand navigation bar
- Click the down arrow ↓ in the top right corner of the grid
- Select an option from the dropdown to sort by such as Date Created, Assignment Name, Assignment Type, or Assignee
- Select Ascending or Descending
